The Lawrence School - Sanawar was established in 1847 in the state of Himachal Pradesh.It is situated at a height of 1750 metres and extends over an area of 139 acres. Affiliated to the C.B.S.E, this Sanawar school was founded by Sir Henry and Lady Honoria Lawrence. On 15th April 1847, Lawrence school started its journey with 14 boys & girls. In 1853, the school flourished as much as to acquire 195 pupils. It was then presented with the King's Colour.It is believed to be the first co-educational boarding school in the world. In 1920, the school was redesigned as the "Lawrence Royal Military School". In 1922, the Prince of Wales personally presented the School with new Colours. In 1949, the School was brought under the control of the Ministry of Education and subsequently, in 1953, to the autonomous Lawrence School (Sanawar) Society. Students from various parts of the Indian sub-continent come here for overall personality development, which includes building creativity skills.
